spinoza’s critiques of anthropomorphism

چکیده
foundational principle of spinoza’s theory about happiness is his new conception of non-personal god. in this way, he begins with recognizing the reasons of anthropomorphism and criticizes the personal god. in this article by conceptual systematism method, these critiques have been discussed. in spinoza’s view the first reason of anthropomorphic conceptions is insufficient ideas about god. spinoza by criticizing the idea of “creator god” and “creatio ex nihilo”, refuses the attributes of intellect, will and wisdom (having end in action) from god, and thereby concludes that ethical properia as good and bad and emotional effections do not fit to god.

Anthropomorphism Revisited
The MIT scientist Donald Griffin, widely-recognized for his experimental confirmation that bats use echo location in tracking insects and avoiding obstacles in the dark (Griffin, 1958/1974), later wrote widely defending the view that other animals are consciously aware and intelligent, like humans (Griffin, 1976, 2001). Based on the assumption that an example of possible human-like cleverness i...
متن کاملSen’s Entitlement Approach: Critiques and Counter-critiques
Twenty years after Poverty and Famines elaborated the entitlement approach as an innovative and holistic approach to famine analysis, debates about some of its fundamental assertions remain unresolved. This paper examines four limitations acknowledged by Sen himself: starvation by choice, disease-driven rather than starvation-driven mortality, ambiguities in entitlement speci cation and extra-...
متن کاملRobots and Anthropomorphism
Our natural tendency to anthropomorphism, grounded in Theory of Mind and related psychological mechanisms, is crucial to our interactions with robots. Some relatively superficial aspects of robots (e.g. physical appearance) can trigger animistic, even empathetic, responses on the part of human beings. Other factors are more subtle, e.g. various aspects of the language (if any) used by the artif...
متن کاملThe Cognitive Correlates of Anthropomorphism
While anthropomorphism in human-robot interaction is often discussed, it still appears to lack formal grounds. We recently proposed a first model of the dynamics of anthropomorphism that reflects the evolution of anthropomorphism in the human-robot interaction over time. The model also accounts for non-monotonic effects like the so-called novelty effect. This contribution proposes to build upon...
متن کاملAnthropomorphism Undermines Understanding of Fishes
Anthropomorphism, the use of human characteristics as a foundation for interpreting behavior and mental capacities of animals, is a bias undermining our understanding of other species, especially species as evolutionarily distant from humans as fishes. Anthropomorphism is not justified by allusions to evolutionary continuity among vertebrates, because no living vertebrate was ever a descendant ...
متن کاملEmerging Therapy Critiques
Symptomatic intracranial stenoses are an important cause of stroke and have a high risk of recurrent stroke with medical therapy. The Stenting and Aggressive Medical Management for Preventing Recurrent Stroke in Intracranial Arterial Stenosis (SAMMPRIS) trial unexpectedly showed a higher-than-expected rate of complications with intracranial stenting and a lower-than-expected recurrence rate wit...
